THE TWINS

KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS

CONSTRUCTION:

Completely made from scratch over 4 months, the Kubo aunties were our hardest costumes to date!

The gi and hakama were made from patterns, and posterboard covered in black fabric and a tie made the obi belt. The hats were posterboard covered in foam and hand painted, the gloves, the leg armor and the wigs are also ALL foam. (The wigs are attached to the hats.)

The rivets on the leg armor are just hot glue dots, as are the ridges in the claw armor. The chain blade is real chain and pvc pipe, with a foam board blade and craft foam decor. The smoking stick is just rolled up paper and glue. The sword is bought and altered with foam decoration. The socks were bought and leather sewed to the bottom for soles.

Finally the masks are hand sculpted and painted from sculpy baked on a base mask, and the capes are individually glued foam feathers to mesh.
