ANIME EXPO CHIBI | NOV 7-9 2025 | AUDITIONS CLOSE 09.26

We are currently hiring for 12 different positions for both our cafe events (Starfall After Dark, and the Anime Husbando Cafe) during Anime Expo Chibi Weekend (November 7th - 9th).
You may apply for both cafes.

Cast members are responsible for creating a welcoming and memorable experience through authentic, in-character performances, conversations, table games, and photo opportunities.

We value a strong emphasis on acting and performance over visual accuracy when it comes to cosplay actors. Cast are expected to provide their own cosplay, wigs, makeup, and props — and arrange their own travel to and during the convention.

Compensation: $18.00/hour + hotel accommodation + badge compensation.

Daytime Cafe

This year, our cafe theme is the Anime Husbando Cafe. Responsibilities include staying in-character while engaging guests through conversation, games, and table rotations; collaborating with staff for smooth service; participating in photo opportunities; and maintaining costumes, wigs, makeup, and props. Physical interaction with attendees in our daytime cafe is kept minimal and light i.e, tipping chins, hand holding, or half hugs. Cast members will work 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday for a total of 8 hours.

AFter Dark Cafe (18+)

This year, our cafe theme Starfall After Dark 18+ is the online mobile game Love and Deepspace. Responsibilities include staying in-character while engaging guests through conversation, risque dancing, games, and table rotations; collaborating with staff for smooth service; participating in photo opportunities; and maintaining costumes, wigs, makeup, and props. Physical interaction with attendees in our nighttime cafe is considerably more flirtatious and prominent, i.e, hand kissing, "kabedon" interactions, hugs, and "pocky games." Cast will be responsible for maintaining a consent based and safe risque experience for all attendees. Cast members will work 2 hours on Saturday and Sunday for a total of 4 hours.

You may work both cafes, but please note that Saturday will then be a double shift with a weekend total of 12 work hours.

Why are you interested in joining our team?

I would like to be considered for future AICOSU events.

I am at least 20 years of age and have the legal right to work in the United States.

I understand that committing to my application and my potential selection would also be committing to a written code of ethics, a requirement to attend mandatory rehearsal, training, and staff meetings (all online) and an agreement to create or obtain the required costume in time for the event as well as appear for the entire schedule with a responsibility to arrange my own travel to and during the convention.

All auditions and applications close on September 26th.
Applicants can expect to receive a response within approximately one week regarding whether they have been selected. In most cases, candidates may be contacted to arrange a phone or online video interview either before or shortly after the deadline.
